Well known academic and author Prof. Malashri Lal is a member, for the English Advisory Board of the Sahitya Akademi, and for the Bharatiya Jnanpith’s advisory committee.
Prof. Malashri Lal is retired Dean of Colleges and Dean, Academic Activities & Projects at the DU Research Council. Professor Lal has held senior administrative positions at Delhi University, including that of the Head, Department of English (2000–03), Director, Women’s Studies (2000–06) and Joint Director, South Campus (2006–11). As a recipient of fellowships from the Fulbright, the British Council, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Shastri-Indo Canadian Institute, she has conducted research in prestigious institutes, including Harvard University, USA, Bellagio, Italy, and Newcastle, UK. Her specialization is in literature, women and gender studies. Her books include In Search of Sita: Revisiting Mythology, Tagore and the Feminine: A Journey Through Translations and Finding Radha: The Quest for Love. Professor Lal has been a Senior Consultant to the Ministry of Culture, UGC nominee on Committees and a member of international book award juries.
